Friendship and adventure for boys and girls aged from 6 to 8 years. A planned programme of activities includes badge work, cooking and enjoying the outdoors.
Our Beaver Scout Colony meets on Tuesdays in term-time from 6.15pm to 7.15pm. The cost is £120 for the year divided into four termly payments of £30. New Beaver Scouts have a settling in period of 3 weeks, after which time the fees are due and uniform should be worn.
Our Beaver Scout Leader is Lisa Moggach. She is assisted by a rota of parent helpers. We are seeking an assistant leader to help Lisa.
When children arrive, they hang up their jackets in the cloakroom, come into the hall and put their photograph onto the colour of spot corresponding to their Lodge colour, on the Beaver Scout White Board. They can look at the activities planned before going over to their Lodge for a seat. They stand in their Lodges at the beginning and end of the evening. There are usually two activities with a snack at 6.45pm. Children must be collected inside the hall by a parent/carer.
The Beaver PROMISE, RULES and PROMOTION OF POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR are explained here.
You can buy Beaver uniforms at John Lewis in Aberdeen. There are also several sites online - see our links page for some options. The only thing you need to buy is a sweatshirt. The group supplies the necker, woggle and badges when your child is enrolled, and anything else is optional. Click here to see where badges should be sewn on. Please note that jeans are not allowed. Most of the children wear combat style trousers / tracksuit/jogging bottoms.
Currently (October 2016) I have had to suspend the waiting list as there are over 20 names currently on the list waiting for a space. I hope to re-open the list in the Summer of 2017.
